In the 1970s, James Dyson, like many others, had to put up with the inefficiencies of traditional vacuum cleaners.
At the time, a vacuum cleaner looked like this:
The cleaner relied on a bag or filter to capture dust and dirt and lost suction as it picked up more dirt, leaving debris behind.
Companies were cashing in on this design. A user had to buy more bags to restore suction and keep using the cleaner.
However, for Dyson, this was just too much.
