"The only way to know you are not a machine is if you feel the sting of the volatility and then use it as fuel. A machine has no 'skin in the game'; it does not care if it is wrong. A human feels the error, and that feeling is what triggers the evolution."
In our current knowledge work environment, volatility is a constant reality.
However, when AI change occurs in high frequency, noise gets mixed up with the signal.
The noise of the fear of missing out and AI-driven layoffs is muffled with the real signal that advances our careers and which we should be paying attention to .
Much like radio receivers, when the noise increases and we fail to filter it out, it drowns the signal and we only hear white noise.
Today, the noise is the speculative and emotional change towards AI and the signal is the structural reality of change.
When we pay too much attention to the noise and ignore the signal, our potential to thrive on volatility is at risk and we are likely to be disrupted by the AI change.
This week, we develop a roadmap that helps us thrive on volatility, transforming us from individuals who bounce back after disruptive change (resilient minds) to those who never felt the disruption in the first place (presilient minds).
As professor Nassim tells us, the only way we know that we aren’t machines is if we love volatility and use it as fuel that advances us.
But how can volatility benefit our productive lives?
We discuss this.
Let’s get started.
