As we discovered earlier this week, many runners including John Landy, Laszlo Tabori, Chris Chataway, and Brian Hewson began finishing the mile under 4 minutes only after Bannister had shown that it was possible.
The evidence supported their new beliefs.
“I can also run the mile under 4 minutes because Bannister and Landy did it.” they would say.
However, in knowledge work, some productivity beliefs are difficult to break because the feedback loop is slow.
It is difficult to map an abstract output such as a change in your workflow strategy and this delay leads to sticking with old beliefs.
How do we deal in such circumstances then?
We answer exactly this and also develop a tool you can use to navigate the ambiguity.
